Browser sources
Keeping your browser current is important for two reasons:
1. the newer versions are likely to be designed to handle current web pages
2.the newer versions are built with greater security and protection
Macintosh or Windows PC
Safari 3.1 - comes with the macintosh operating system
Firefox 3.0 - excellent browser for this system - free
Opera 9.5 - award winning software from Norway, also free, very versatile
Flock 1.2 - browser and social networking tool
Windows PC only
If using Internet Explorer it is especially important to have the latest edition and well as the latest software upgrades. Microsoft attempts to solve security problems on a regular basis , but earlier versions may be exploited by spammers and others.
Internet Explorer 7 - recently improved with enhanced security, almost brings it to a par with the other available browsers
No longer supported
Internet Explorer on the Macintosh - outdated and very buggy
Netscape 9.0 - Earlier versions are still available but Netscape recommends FireFox or Flock
